ChĂąteau Haut Koenigsbourg

Day 1 – Paris-Colmar

  • Morning: TGV to Strasbourg and coach to Youth Hostel in Colmar.
    Colmar is one of the most beautiful historic towns in France with its spectacular half-timbered coloured houses and its canals in the «Petite Venise».

  • Afternoon : Guided visit of old Colmar dating back to the middle-ages and the 18th century. Its beautiful streets and lovely canals have attracted numerous artists.
    Dinner and night in the hostel.

Day 2 - Strasbourg

  • Morning : To Strasbourg by coach : Strasbourg has been the capital of the region for 1500 years and is now one of the three capitals of Europe and a world heritage city.
    Cruise on the river Ill to discover the town: « La petite France » with its spectacular medieval houses, remarkable bridges, up to the European Parliament. Visit its unique world heritage red sandstone gothic cathedral.
    Free for lunch

  • Afternoon: Visit either the European Parliament or the European Union Council. Return to Colmar for dinner and night in hostel.

Jour 3 - ChĂąteau du Haut Koeningsbourg and then either Gertwiller or Cernay

  • Morning : Guided visit of the ChĂąteau du Haut Koeningsbourg an impressive 12th and 15th magnificently restored castle, with the most spectacular view over Alsace.
    Free for lunch

  • Afternoon : choice between :
  1.  To the village of Gertwiller to visit the Palais du Pain d’épice (Ginger bread Palace) and how it is made.
  2. To Cernay and le Parc des Cigognes (the stork park). The stork is the symbol of Alsace. The bird nearly disappeared but has been reintroduced over the last 40 years. Return to Colmar for dinner and night in hostel.

Jour 4 - Mulhouse and the Eco-MusĂ©e d’Alsace.

  • Morning : Departure by coach to Mulhouse.
    Mulhouse (the town with mills) has been an industrial town since the middle ages. It houses wonderful museums: train, wall paper, printed material and the most important car museum in the world: la CitĂ© de l’Automobile : guided visit.
    Free for lunch

  • Afternoon : On the way back to Colmar visit of the Eco-MusĂ©e d’Alsace.
    This open air museum presents some 70 traditional houses, also many artisans, potters, blacksmiths, wheelwrights and also an apiary and a traditional farm yard.
    Dinner and night in hostel.

Jour 5 - The road of the Alsatian vineyards and to CDG airport or Paris

  • Morning : Leave hostel with luggage.
    Follow the road along the Alsatian vineyards. Leisurely visit of Riquewihr, one of the most beautiful villages in France.
    Short stop in Ribeauvillé.

  • Afternoon : To TGV station to go either to Roissy-CDG airport or to Paris.
