During this tour you will discover the most famous monuments and « quartiers » in Paris; you will visit the Louvre and Orsay museums and the Versailles château with specialist guides. Your stay in Paris will end with a day in Disneyland.
You will then go and see some of the Loire Valley châteaux, before taking the TGV to Avignon to discover the superb Palace of the Popes. Then you will explore the Luberon region, and discover Arles and its Roman amphitheatre as well as the sites painted by Van Gogh.
Then you will take another TGV to see Nice, Monaco/Monte Carlo, the Renoir museum in Cagnes, and the exceptional Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild before returning to Paris by TGV.
A rich and varied cultural and educational programme.

AMphithéâtre Arles

Day 1 – Paris (5 nights)

  • Morning  : Welcome at CDG airport by France Heritage Travel Team.
    Coach transfer to hostel in the historical heart of Paris (5 nights).
    Organized group breakfast.

  • Afternoon : Walk to the Ile de la CitĂ©.
    Booked entry to the Sainte Chapelle, the absolute jewel of 13th century Gothic architecture.
    Walk past Notre Dame cathedral to see it as it is being renovated.
    Dinner and night in Hostel

Day 2 – Paris

  • Morning : Guided visit of the MusĂ©e du Louvre.
    Then discover  the Comédie française and the gardens of the Palais Royal.

  • Afternoon : Visit of Montmartre either guided or with Maps and Notes.

  • Evening : Early dinner followed by  a Cruise on the River  Seine.
    Night in hostel.

Day 3 - Paris

  • Morning : Booked  entry to the Tour Eiffel.
    End of morning to Versailles by RER.

  • Afternoon guided visit of the Château de Versailles and its gardens.
    Dinner and night in hostel.

Day 4 - Paris

  • Morning : Guided visit of the MusĂ©e d’Orsay.

  • Early afternoon : booked entry to the Arc de Triomphe.
    Time to discover the Champs Elysées.
    Rest of the afternoon : shopping (shops close 7h30 pm).
    Dinner and night in hostel.

Day 5 - Paris

  • Whole day in Disneyland.
    Dinner and night in hostel.

Day 6 - Amboise (3 nights)

  • Morning : Transfer by coach to station TGV to St Pierre des Corps (near Tours).
    Transfer by coach for a booked entry to the Château de Chenonceau.
    Transfer to the hostel in Amboise (3 nights).
    Dinner and night in hostel.

     

Day 7 - Amboise : Whole day coach tour

  • Morning : Booked entry to visit the Château de Chambord then 2 hour bicycle ride in the garden and forest.

  • Afternoon :  Booked entry to the Château de Cheverny.
    Dinner and night in hostel.

Day 8 - Amboise

  • Morning : Booked entry to visit the Clos LucĂ©, Da Vinci’s last home, where models of man of his inventions can be seen.

  • Afternoon : Booked entry to visit the Château d’Amboise (important château overlooking the Loire. Leonardo Da Vinci is buried in its chapel).
    Dinner and night in hostel.

Jour 9 - Avignon (4 nights)

  • Matin : Transfer by coach to St Pierre des Corps station.
    Train to Avignon with one change. Coach transfer to youth hostel in Avignon to settle.   

  • Afternoon : Some time to explore the beautiful town of Avignon.
    Group dinner and night in hostel.

Day 10 - Avignon

  • Morning : Guided visit of the World Heritage site of the Palais des Papes.

    Then visit the Pont St Benezet (the famous “Pont d’Avignon” which every youngster learning French knows how to sing!).

  • Afternoon : Coach excursion to the incredible World Heritage Roman Pont du Gard.
    Dinner and night in hostel.

Day 11 - Avignon

  • Whole day coach tour to discover the superb LubĂ©ron, its countryside and magnificent villages.

    Visit a market to enjoy the fresh fruit and vegetables, then the beautiful village of Gordes, followed by the extraordinary dry-stone village of Les Bories.

    Then the village of Roussillon built on 16 or 17 shades of ochre.
    Dinner and night in hostel.

Day 12 - Avignon

  • Whole day coach tour to the World Heritage site of Arles : a Roman Capital.

    In Arles we suggest the visit of the Roman amphitheatre, still in good condition as it was used during the Middle Ages as the fortifications of the town.

    To have a look at the Roman theatre before visiting the magnificent 12thC. church and cloister St Trophime.

    Don’t leave Arles without asking the coach to drop you at the entrance to Les Alyscamps to visit this incredible place, “l’allée des sarcophages” painted by Van Gogh.

    Continue to visit the most fabulous site in the whole of Provence  Les Baux de Provence. The adventurous will climb up the top of the ruined medieval fortress, the others will be content with the views over Provence, and all will appreciate the Renaissance village through which they will climb.
    Dinner and night in hostel.

     

Jour 13 - From Avignon to Nice (3 nights)

  • Morning : Leisurely morning in Avignon.
    Coach transfer to TGV station.
    Leave Avignon by TGV to Nice.
    Walk to the hostel, situated 200m from station (no coach transfer) (3 nights).
    Group dinner in restaurant (just behind the hostel)
    Night in Nice hostel.

Day 14 - Nice

  • Morning : Guided visit of the historical centre of Nice.
    Time to explore the Galerie des Ponchettes, the Place Massena and the Promenade des Anglais.

  • Afternoon : Coach tour on the Grande Corniche to enjoy the magnificent views over Nice and the Riviera to Monaco via Eze.     
    Group dinner in restaurant and night in hostel.

Day 15 - Nice

  • Morning :  coach excursion to Cagnes-sur-mer.
    In Cagnes, Les Collettes, the home of the great impressionist painter Renoir. When he bought the house he exclaimed that the house was nothing but a view : “but what a view!”.
    Visit of the Musée Renoir.

  • Afternoon : by coach round  the Cap Ferrat , visiting during the tour one of the most extraordinarily beautiful sites in the whole region  of the Riviera :  the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild.
    Visit the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. Apart from the stunning architecture and the site itself, after visiting the villa there are nine different gardens to explore!
    Group dinner in restaurant and night in Nice hostel.

Jour 16 - Return to Paris and Roissy-CDG airport.

  • Morning : Walk to Nice train station : TGV direct to Roissy-CDG airport.
